Overview
After approximately one day of polling, the LogMgmt.PollingService consumes excessive memory resources. This high memory usage can cause the poller service to become unresponsive, impacting monitoring and alerting functions.
Product section
Cause
The Log Manager Polling Service logs contain numerous errors related to VMAN polling failures, such as connection timeouts and invalid VMware login credentials. These repeated errors cause the service to consume excessive memory over time.
Resolution
-
Identify and resolve the underlying VMAN polling errors by verifying:
- VMware server accessibility and network connectivity
- Correctness of VMware credentials used in the SolarWinds Platform
- Proper configuration of VMware endpoints and permissions
-
Clear or resolve issues in the OLV logs to prevent excessive memory consumption.
-
Restart the affected SolarWinds services after addressing the log errors to restore normal memory usage and poller accessibility.
