SolarWinds Integration in Web Help Desk no longer connects after upgrading to SolarWinds Platform 2024.2 or higher
This article discuss the error shown: "The server at 'xx.xxx.xx.xxx' does not appear to be a SolarWinds Orion server" after upgrading the SolarWinds Platform 2024.2+ or the WebHelpDesk or the SolarWinds Integration in Web Help Desk can no longer connect.

Overview
Starting with 2024.2, SolarWinds Information Service (SWIS) will officially move to TCP 17774 by default and will stop listening on port TCP 17778.
Please ensure all firewalls have been updated accordingly prior to upgrading.
If using third-party integrations configured to connect to the SolarWinds Platform and create tickets, such as WHD or SolarWinds Service Desk, the SWIS API port must be changed from 17778 to 17774 after the upgrade.

This might cause issues after upgrading the SolarWinds Platform 2024.2+ or the WebHelpDesk, wherein the SolarWinds Platform Integration in Web Help Desk can no longer connect.

Cause
Change of the default SWIS port from 17778 to 17774 starting with SolarWinds Platform 2024.2.
Resolution
- Option 1: Amend port to servername/IP:
- In WHD, edit the SolarWinds Connection at Setup > SolarWinds Integration
- Add the port number to the end of the server in the field "Server IP Address or FQDN"
- Example: 10.100.10.100:17774
- Click Save
- Option 2: Re-enable the Old Port:
- In http://OrionHostname/Orion/admin/AdvancedConfiguration/global.aspx, configure the following settings:
- Set CertificateNameForSafeguardCommunicationOnSwisRestEndpoint to SolarWinds-Orion
- Uncheck DisableSwisRestEndpointOnPort17778
- Click Save
- Restart all SolarWinds Platform services from the main and additional polling engine/web servers.
