Overview

The SolarWinds.IPAM.Init.exe tool is no longer shipped in the MSI from IPAM 2020.2.6 and must be downloaded and installed separately if required. This article describes how to download and install this tool.

Cause

The SolarWinds.IPAM.Init.exe tool is no longer shipped in the MSI from IPAM 2020.2.6 and must be downloaded and installed separately if required.

Resolution

  1. Download the SolarWinds.IPAM.Init.zip file from https://downloads.solarwinds.com/solarwinds/Release/Components/SolarWinds.IPAM.Init.zip
  2. Extract the archive to an appropriate location on your Orion server.
  3. Copy and paste all the files (SolarWinds.IPAM.Init.exe & SolarWinds.IPAM.Init.exe.conf) to IPAM's installation location. The default path is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\IPAM
  4. Navigate back one level to the Orion directory
    The default path is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion
  5. Copy the SolarWinds.AssemblyResolver.dll file
  6. Paste it to IPAM's installation location
    The default path is: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\IPAM
Once the above steps are done the tool can be used.
