Overview

This article addresses the following error message that appears when logging in using SFTP protocol and LDAP credentials:

Authentication with public "key "Imported-openssh-key". Server refused public-key signature despite accepting key!

Product section

Serv-U Managed File Transfer & Serv-U FTP Server

Cause

This can occur due to the following reasons:

  • A connection account is not provided for LDAP authentication.
  • The wrong credential is specified for the connection account in LDAP configuration.

When the user is authenticated passes the public key as Serv-U cannot use the public key as the connection account. The connection account requires a password with an account name complete with a UPN suffix.

Resolution

Provide correct Connection Account and Connection Account password for LDAP host in LDAP configuration. Otherwise, Serv-U will use the credentials that are being authenticated as the connection account.
