Serv-U connection login is showing PTY allocation request failed on channel 0

A user cannot log in to the Serv-U SFTP using the Windows command.

Overview

When a user tries to log in to Serv-U via the Windows command, they get the error message below.

PTY allocation request failed on channel 0
shell request failed on channel 0

Cause

Serv-U does not support SSH command.

Resolution

Use the SFTP command instead of the SSH.

Example command: C:\sftp user@server.com
