Serv-U configuration lost after upgrading to the latest version

Overview

Some customers may encounter an issue where the Serv-U configuration is lost after the upgrade to the latest version

While the Serv-U.Archive is observed to still be there, the application doesn't appear to be picking up correctly.
When the Serv-U console is launched, no domain is shown to be configured. This was observed in the following scenarios.

  • Serv-U installed not on the default location drive C.
  • Serv-U service runs using a domain account

Cause

Serv-U service account does not have local admin rights.

Resolution

Back up these files/folder before making any changes:


Make sure that the Serv-U service account have local administrator rights.

  • Confirm the Serv-U service account used by going to services.msc
  • Run lusrmgr.msc. from the Start menu program
  • Go to the Administrator Group.
  • Add the Serv-U service account to the group.
  • Restart the Serv-U service.

  • Stop the Serv-U service
  • Go to the C:\ProgramData\RhinoSoft\Serv-U folder
  • Copy the Serv-U.Archive file and paste it in the C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft folder as a copy (Serv-U.Archive (Copy).
  • Edit the Serv-U.Archive file found inside C:\ProgramData\RhinoSoft\Serv-U and save it. 
  • Start the Serv-U service
