Overview

After updating the Serv-U SSL certificate from the management console and for some reason, it still showing the old SSL certificate details or the default of Serv-U, not the expected SSL certificate. It appears that it is not applying correctly.

Product section

Serv-U Managed File Transfer & Serv-U FTP Server

Cause

  • The old SSL certificate still configured either in the Global or Domain level
  • Missing SSL certificate details such as a private key or CA.

Resolution

  • Make sure that the SSL certificate is configured either at the Global or Domain level one at a time only
  • If configured both, remove the other level certificate details
  • Preferably SSL certificate should be at the domain level especially if there are multiple domains in Serv-U
  • If this is a wildcard certificate, get the PFX file and extract the certificate and the private key, then apply the extracted certificate, see Extract SSL certificate PFX file for Serv-U
