Serv-U Error: Operation was not successful, an unknown error occurred when using the old web client on some versions of Safari

This article addresses the issue when accessing old web client on some Safari versions.

Overview

The users of the old web client may encounter an issue below when accessing it on some versions of Safari.

'ERROR: Operation was not successful, an unknown error occurred. Your session may have timed out. Please try logging in again.'

And when you try to log in, you will get the same error. This is not happening on Chrome or Firefox.

The domain logs in Serv-U also show a line '301 moved permanently' when the error appears.

Cause

Browser compatibility using the old web client.

Resolution

Use the new Web Client instead of the old Web client.

Set the New Web Client as default at the Domain Level

1. Open the Serv-U Management Console.
2. Go to the Domain > Limits and Settings.
3. Navigate to the Settings tab.
4. Set the default to the New Web Client, then click save.
