Serv-U 2026.3: Unable to enable Serv-U logging when file name is not included

This article discusses the error message that comes up when trying to enable the Serv-U logging.

Overview

When enabling the Serv-U logging, it is expected to create the Log File Path Name.

But when ticking the checkbox Enable logging to file, an error comes up as:

Unable to open or create the specified log file. Please verify path for errors and accessibility to Serv-U.

Resolution

When enabling Serv-U logging, aside from the path, the Serv-U log file name should always be created.

ex: Log filename: SULogs.txt

Log File Path Name should be: E:\SU Test\SU Logs/SULogs.txt
