Send file Link shows "link expired" when accessed by a logged in Serv-U user

When a logged-in Serv-U user tries to access a file via a Send File link, they receive a “Link expired” message, even though the link should still be valid.

Overview

This issue occurs when a Send File link (generated by a Serv-U user) is accessed by another user who is already logged in to Serv-U through the web client. Instead of opening the file or download page, Serv-U incorrectly interprets the request as an expired or invalid link.

The problem is specific to authenticated sessions and does not occur when accessing the same link from a browser session where no Serv-U user is logged in.

Cause

Serv-U associates session authentication with link access. When a user is logged in, Serv-U validates the Send File link against the current session rather than the public link data. This results in a mismatch, and the system flags the link as expired or invalid, even if it’s still active and within its expiration time.

Resolution

This is under investigation by the SolarWinds Engineering team.

Workaround: Access the Send File link from a browser or session where no Serv-U user is logged in (e.g., use a private/incognito window).
