Overview

Sometimes it can be observed that NPM can see two parts of a link separately instead of seeing a complete link between interfaces.

For Example:
One might see two partial links:
Node A  - Interface 1 ----------> Unknown  - Node B
Node A  - Unknown  ----------> Interface 2 - Node B

What one expects to see is:
Node A  - Interface 1 ----------> Interface 2 - Node B

Resolution

1) Take a backup of the following file (copy to desktop for example):
C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Topology\Calculation.cfg (assuming default install location)
2) Edit C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Topology\Calculation.cfg
3) Change
<ProviderConfig Key="ComplementaryLinksSelectorL2" Value="false"/>
To
<ProviderConfig Key="ComplementaryLinksSelectorL2" Value="true"/>
4) Save the file

Once this is done,
1) Navigate to the Manage Nodes page
2) Select the node
3) From the Toolbar select More -> Update Topology
4) Wait some time for the Topology to update

Verify that the link appears correctly.
