| Important: As of SolarWinds Platform 2026.2, the Unmanage Scheduling Utility is deprecated. The tool is still supported in the current release. However, it will be removed in a future release. Deprecation is an indication that you should avoid expanded use of this feature and formulate a plan to discontinue using the feature. |
Schedule Un-manage via UnmanageEditor Utility on Solarwinds Server.
1. RDP to Main Poller
2. Open UnmanageEditor
Default location Orion 2020.2 and earlier(Reached End of Life):
C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\UnmanageUtility\UnmanageEditor.exe
Default Location in Solarwinds Platform 2022.x and Later
C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\UnmanageEditor.exe
OR
C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\UnmanageEditor.exe
3. When prompted enter the Web console credentials which has node management rights.
4. Click Select new task
5. Select the focus of the task and click Add Items...
6. Select the objects and click Add button
7. Select the duration of the un-managed period and click OK
8. Save the task
9. Copy the location of *.cmd file from the popup dialog
Default location Orion 2020.2 and earlier:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\UnmanageUtility\Tasks
Default Location in Solarwinds Platform 2022.x:
C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\Tasks
10. Open up Task Scheduler on the Orion Server (Start -> Search for "Task Scheduler")
11. Choose "Create Basic Task" from the "Actions" pane on the top right.
12. Follow through the Basic Task wizard, setting the internal for when to stop managing the objects selected in step 6.
13. When prompted, paste the path to the saved task from step 9.
14. Ensure that you have modified the user settings on Task Scheduler so that the specific task will run even if the user set is not logged on the server.
NOTE: The Windows Scheduled Task will run on the Time Zone that is set on the Orion server.
Schedule Unmanage via web console and easier way:
Suspend data collection or alerts for nodes in Maintenance Mode .
