SRM: Enable a Dell PowerScale/EMC Isilon array

This article contains information on enabling the Dell PowerScale/EMC Isilon array so that it can be monitored by SRM. Dell PowerScale/EMC Isilon arrays communicate with SRM using SNMP and REST APIs.

Overview

The article contains information on enabling the Dell PowerScale/EMC Isilon array so that it can be monitored by SRM. It should be used in conjunction with the Add your storage array for monitoring with SRM topic in the Success Center documentation or online help.

Dell PowerScale/EMC Isilon arrays communicate with SRM using SNMP and REST APIs.

Credentials required to add the array  

Ensure you have the following:

  • The IP address or hostname for the array
  • The SNMP version to use. The default is v2c

If you are using v1 or v2c, you will need the following:

  • The array SNMP community string. By default this is public
  • SNMP port name. The default is 161

If you are using v3, you will need the following:

  • Array SNMP user name. Obtain the SNMPv3 read-only user name from EMC ISILON GUI Cluster management > General settings >SNMP monitoring
  • Array SNMP Context. The default is password
  • Array Authentication Method and password: Select "MD5", and check "Password is a key".
  • Privacy Encryption Method: Select "NONE"

The following API credentials are required for polling latency information on pools/vDisks.

  • API user name
  • API password
  • Protocol. The default is HTTPS
  • API port. The default is 8080
