How to enable the Hewlett-Packard 3PAR / StoreServ family of flash-optimized data storage systems for use with SolarWinds Storage Resource Monitor using the 3PAR SMI-S provider.

This articles describes how to enable the Hewlett-Packard 3PAR StoreServ family of flash-optimized data storage systems for use with SolarWinds Storage Resource Monitor (SRM) using the 3PAR SMI-S provider. It should be used in conjunction with the Add your storage array for monitoring with SRM topic in the Success Center documentation or online help.

Credential required to add the array
Ensure you have the following information:- IP address or hostname for the array
- Provider username. The default is 3paradm
- Provider password. The default is 3pardata
- Protocol. The default is HTTPS
- HTTP port. The default is 5988
- HTTPS port. The default is 5989
- Interop namespace. The default is /root/pg_interop
- Array namespace. The default is /root/tpd
Enable the provider
The 3PAR provider must be enabled before it can be added to SRM. The following example shows how to use PuTTY to access and configure the 3PAR SMI-S provider.Log into the 3PAR Command Line Interface (CLI) using PuTTY
- Using SSH, enter the IP address of the 3PAR array:
- Log in using the username and password setup on the array. The defaults are 3paradm/3pardata.
- Enter setcim. This command can be used to start or stop the provider.
Troubleshooting 3PAR Provider using the CLI
Q: How do I know if the Provider is running?
A: Log in to the array and enter showcim. This will show the overall status of the cim server and the status and ports being used for HTTP and HTTPS.
Q: How do I get the version of InForm OS?
A: Log in to array as described above and enter showversion.
Q: How do I get help?
A: Log in to array as described above and enter help. For help on a particular command, enter help <command>, where <command> is the command for help needed. Example: help show.
Q: How do I restart the provider?
A: Log onto the provider as described above. Then:
- Enter stopcim –f –x
- Enter startcim
Q: How do I exit the CLI?
A: Logon to provider as described above and call quit.
