SNMPv3 Walk tool ignores MD5/SHA256/SHA512 authentication selection and falls back to SHA1, causing Error #31218: Wrong Digests
The SolarWinds SNMP Walk tool silently ignores the selected SNMPv3 authentication algorithm and always uses SHA1 instead. This causes Error #31218, Wrong Digests when trying to walk devices that require MD5, SHA256, or SHA512.

Devices configured to use MD5, SHA256, or SHA512 authentication cannot be correctly queried using the SolarWinds SNMP Walk tool.
Although the tool accepts the selected authentication method without displaying an error, it consistently transmits SHA1 credentials to the target device, resulting in a "Wrong Digests" authentication failure.
Devices configured with SHA1 authentication operate normally. Other authentication algorithms may appear to work only when the device is configured to accept a fallback to SHA1.
This issue is limited to the SNMP Walk tool and does not impact SolarWinds Platform polling, which relies on a separate authentication and polling mechanism.

Resolution
A fix for this issue is planned for a future release of the SolarWinds Platform.
As an alternative, the SNMP walk can be collected through the Diagnostics for the specific Node, from Settings --> My Deployment page from the Web Console.
SNMP walk operations can also be performed using an alternative SNMP walk tool as a workaround. This issue is limited to the SolarWinds SNMP Walk tool and does not impact device polling or monitoring within the SolarWinds Platform.
