When trying to click on the Test button for SNMP credentials, it fails. Orion cannot poll the necessary OIDs required to pass the credential test while adding the node.

Cause

- The SNMP community or credentials are incorrect.
- License Expired or maximum number of nodes reached according the license.

Resolution

To address the issue please follow these steps:

  1. RDP to Main Poller
  2. Open the SNMP Walk tool (Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SnmpWalk.exe)
  3. Specify the information and attempt to create the SNMP walk for the node:

If the SNMP walk is failing for one of the following reasons:

  • SNMP Timeout
  • Wrong credentials
  • key/passcode issue (make sure the channel configuration matches between the Orion server and the node)

The issue is originating from the configuration of the node. Please contact the Administrator of the node and ask to be configured in such a way that the Orion poller can access the OIDs of the node with the provided credentials.

If this issue is due to a license being expired, validate on the customer portal whether you have an updated license and activate the new license.
