SD-WAN Data Not Polled for Newly Added Devices from Orchestrator-Based Discovery in the SolarWinds Platform
When importing previously executed Orchestrator-based discovery results, SD-WAN data for newly imported nodes polled via SNMP + API" (SNMP + API nodes) and all data for newly imported nodes, polled via API-only (API-only nodes) may not be polled. This article explains the cause and provides the recommended resolution.

Overview
This issue arises because the SolarWinds Platform currently does not fully support automatic polling of SD-WAN data for newly added devices when importing discovery results from Orchestrator-based discoveries. This limitation affects both API-only and mixed-mode (SNMP + API) polling methods.
To ensure accurate and complete SD-WAN data collection, manual intervention is required to re-run discovery and import results. Avoiding scheduled or automatic imports helps prevent incomplete polling and data gaps.

Cause
There is a known issue when importing results from previously executed Orchestrator-based discoveries. This issue affects both API-only and mixed-mode discovery methods.
Resolution
-
Remove the affected devices.
-
Run Orchestrator discovery again.
-
Import the results from the UI manually after discovery completes.
-
Avoid scheduled discovery imports.
-
Alternatively, use the Import All Results button on the Network Sonar Discovery page.
-
Note: Polling history and related data (such as interfaces and volumes) will be lost when the nodes are re-imported.
If re-importing is not acceptable, please contact SolarWinds Support.
Additional Recommendations
-
Run Orchestrator-based discovery and import results manually.
-
Auto-import of discovery results for Orchestrator-based discovery (both API-only and mixed-mode) is not supported.
