Basic Troubleshooting steps
To monitor Hardware Health Sensors in SAM, the following conditions must be true:
- The server must be polled by one of those polling methods:
- SNMP or WMI ( for those polling methods are currently supported only HP, Dell, and IBM servers)
- The polled remote server must have an SNMP manager or agent from the proper manufacturer installed. This applies for both SNMP and WMI polling methods. These managers or agents supply necessary OID's or WMI namespaces.
- For HP servers
- HP System Insight Manager
- For Dell servers
- Dell OpenManage Server Administrator
- For IBM servers
- IBM System Director Server. This application is not necessary for polling hardware to work.
- VMware
- ESXi servers and vCenters use their own protocols to supply hardware health status.
- SNMP or WMI ( for those polling methods are currently supported only HP, Dell, and IBM servers)
If these conditions cannot be met, the Hardware Health resources can not be displayed. Note that for SNMP and WMI, the manager or agent from the correct manufacturer is required for hardware monitoring to work as expected.
