Routing Neighbors Resource LAST CHANGE column in SolarWinds Platform web console does not match the BGP uptime in CLI

Overview

When monitoring the border gateway protocol (BGP) neighbors of a router, the LAST CHANGE column value does not match the device CLI. This article explains how the SolaWinds Platform monitors routing neighbors in the following environment.

Routing Neighbors resource

Router command line interface

Product section

Orion Platform

Cause

This behavior is by working as design.

Resolution

SolarWinds Platform updates the LAST CHANGE column when one of the conditions is true:

  1. A change is detected with routing neighbor information from the monitored router.
  2. A new routing neighbor is added from the monitored router
If there are no changes detected, the LAST CHANGE column will not be updated.  To see the next polling time for the route, review the NPM_Routing table.

Note: The SolarWinds Platform does not poll the Up and Down time for BGP routing neighbors.

The following table lists the only OIDs polled by the Orion Platform for BGP routing.
