Reports have missing events or return no results in SEM

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when reports do not return events, or appear to be missing events after running a report from the Reports Console.

This article applies to Security Event Manager (formerly Log & Event Manager).

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when reports do not return events, or appear to be missing events after running a report from the Reports Console.

Cause

  • There are no events during that time period for that particular report.

    - or -

  • There is a time sync issue with the SEM appliance.

Resolution

Note: Run a different report to make sure it returns results.

  1. On the SEM console menu bar, navigate to Explore > nDepth, and then search for the target events for the same time period.
    You should be able to look at the events from previously saved reports to find details to search for. If you find results here, but not in Reports, proceed to Step 2.
  2. Verify the time, date, and timezone on the SEM is accurate.
