Overview

The Orion Report Writer fails to launch properly with the following error:

Run time error '339' Component 'IGThreed40.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered; a file is missing or invalid

Cause

This issue can be caused by any of the following:

  • Running the configuration wizard with insufficient permissions 
  • Antivirus locking files
  • Corrupted OCX files (Found in Vol:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SolarWinds)

Resolution

From the Solarwinds Orion Server Console...

 

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds server as a local administrator (do not use a domain account).
  2. Set the Files and directories to exclude from antivirus scanning for Orion Platform products .
  3. Go to Vol:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SolarWinds and move the vsprinter.ocx file to another location such as your desktop.

    OrionReportWriter.cfg
    OrionReportWriter.exe
    OrionReportWriter.exe.config
    OrionReportWriter.sxchema

  5. How to run a repair on SolarWinds Orion Core Services (© 2003-2018 SolarWinds Worldwide, available at https://support.solarwinds.com, obtained on Dec 12, 2018).
  6. Allow the wizard to complete.

  7. The report should open in Report Writer without any errors.
