How To Repair the Job Engine V2 service on the Orion Platform

This article serves as an instructional article to repair or reinstall Job Engine service on Orion polling engines.

Resolution

Solarwinds Platform 2020.2.6 and lower

  1. Start and stop Orion services using the Orion Service Manager.
  2. Navigate to:
    C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers
  3. Locate the following files:
    • JobEngine(Version Name).v2.msi
  4. As an administrator, right-click on the file and click Repair.

    After each repair, the Configuration Wizard will pop up. Cancel and continue.

  5. Run the Orion Configuration wizard on all three components.

Solarwinds Platform 2022.2 and above

Collector:
1. RDP to the Orion Server.
2. Stop the SolarWinds Collector via the Orion Service Manager on all Orion servers.
3. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Collector\Data.
4. Delete the PollingController.db and PollingController.db-journal files.
5. Start the service once more via the Orion Service Manager.
6. The files will be rebuilt automatically.

Job Engine:
1. RDP to the Orion Server.
2. Stop the SolarWinds Job Engine via the Orion Service Manager on all Orion servers.
3. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\JobEngine\Data.
4. Delete the JobEngine.db and JobEngine.db-journal files.
5. Start the service once more via the Orion Service Manager.
6. The files will be rebuilt automatically.
