Repair cortex in the SolarWinds Platform

This article will go over how to repair cortex polling service in the SolarWinds Platform.

Overview

Cortex is taking on more and more roles the Job engine was formerly responsible for. Use this article if perfstack metrics are having issues, but reports and most widgets for the same metric are showing correctly in the web console. Common metrics this effects are CPU and network stats.

If you cannot find the Cortex installer, repair the SolarWinds Platform instead.

Cortex corrupted

Resolution

1. RDP into the affected server (usually main polling engine)
2. Go to C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers
3. Find the MSI file starting with "Cortex" in it's name
4. Right click and repair/ modify
5. Ensure all services are running on SolarWinds Platform Service Manager

or Repair the SolarWinds Platform instead.
