Cause

The nodes are placed automatically based on the data held in the Latitude and longitude custom property (Out of the box properties). From this point, the node coordinates are collected directly from the nodes using SNMP or the latitude and longitude data is manually added in the Custom Property editor.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the Orion Web Console.
  2. Click Settings > All Settings.
  3. Under Product Specific Settings, click Web Console Settings.
  4. Under Worldwide Map Settings, deselect the Automatic Geolocation check box.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. Open the custom property editor in Settings.
  7. Select one of the existing custom properties, and click View Add values.
  8. Hover the mouse arrow over the Column header.
  9. Click a column drop-down list and select Latitude and longitude.
  10. Scroll down and locate the targeted device.
  11. Delete the device coordinates from the WorldWide map.
This data is also stored in the database in the Worldmappoints table.
