Remove expired Orion product evaluation from License Manager

Orion product - Evaluation license still shows up on the License Manager page (Settings > All Settings > License Manager),

The article shows how to hide the evaluation banner appearing on the Orion Web Console and the expired Orion product evaluation showing up on the License Manager page even after uninstalling the module or evaluation banner.

Resolution

To address the issue follow the below steps:

  1. Log in to your Orion Server (Main Polling Engine).
  2. Run CMD (Command Prompt) as Administrator.
  3. Locate Migration.exe file, by default located in C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Licensing\ directory - this is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion by default in 2022.x.
  4. Navigate to the directory where the file is and execute it by adding /hide=ProductName:LicenseVersion option, for example, Migration.exe /hide=VM:6
  5. Refresh the License Manager page, this should not show the expired module evaluation anymore, and the banner should not display.

To find out ProductName and LicenseVersion follow the steps below:
  1. Log in to your Orion Server (Main Polling Engine)
  2. Run CMD (Command Prompt) as Administrator
  3. Locate Migration.exe file, by default located in C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Licensing\ directory - this is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion by default in 2022.x.
  4. Navigate to the directory where the file is and execute it by adding /details option, for example, Migration.exe /details
  5. Take note of ProductName and LicenseVersion:

  1.  Alternatively, you can obtain these details from within the database, from the Licensing_LicenseFilters and Licensing_LicenseAssignments tables.

For environments running SolarWinds Platform 2022.3:

Resolution 1

  1. Log in to your Orion Server (Main Polling Engine).

  2. Run CMD (Command Prompt) as Administrator.
  3. Locate the Migration.exe file, by default located in C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\
  4. Navigate to the directory where the file is and execute it by adding the/hide=ProductName: LicenseVersion option, for example, Migration.exe/hide=SAM:5

Example = C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion>Migration.exe/hide=SAM:5

  1. Refresh the License Manager page, this should not show the expired module evaluation anymore, and the banner should not display.

Resolution 2

Use License Manager to Remove the Evaluation licenses
  1. In the Orion Web Console go to the License Manager
    1. Settings > All Settings > License Manager
  2. Select the radio button next to the Evaluation license(s) you want to remove
  3. Click Remove
