Remove a Monitoring Service

This article shows how to remove a monitoring service from the SQL Sentry database.

Overview

When deleting the monitoring service, the service will still be listed in the client. This can cause an influx of alerts to come in regarding the monitoring service.

**Disclaimer:  This issue was due to a bug that was fixed in v18.2**

When you need to remove a monitoring service but it will not delete. 

Step-by-step guide

  1. Connect to the Repository instance in SSMS

  2. Run the Below statement against the Repository to find the correct Service to remove.

    select * from ManagementEngine

  3. Once you have confirmed the correct monitoring service run the below statement to remove any rogue entries still associated with that monitoring service. Note that you can do this for as many monitoring services as necessary. 

    delete from ManagementEngineWorker where ManagementEngineID = 2--insert
    the appropriate ManagementEngineID here
  4. Go back to the Client and select the monitoring service then hit the physical delete key on the Keyboard.
