Remote Desktop function does not work

Affects IE 10 and later.

When an Orion user is enabled for Browser Integration (Allow Browser Integration is set to Yes),  6 icons appear on the upper right hand side on the Node Details. These icons may or may not work.

The following issues may occur:
 

• Engineering Toolset may or may not be installed on the node with the Orion server
• The Ping and TraceRoute icons will work if  Engineering Toolset has been installed on the same host.  See the following documents for the minimum levels needed for Active X:
  • Enable SolarWinds Toolset integration with the NCM Web Console on Windows 2008    
• The Telnet and SSH functionality do not work on the Orion webpage, and it doesn't work on the Toolset either.
• SSH capability is available from the Management resource for the Node and does not require Toolset to be installed.
• The Remote Desktop ability will work on the Toolset (right mouse click on a node), however it does not with the icons on the Orion  Node details webpage

• Microsoft closed a hole which allowed the original functionality.  
• At the time of this writing, it is unknown whether these icons are supposed to call the appropriate Engineering Toolset functionality or not.  

1. Use SSH from the Management resource in the Node Details.
2. Use the Engineering Toolset, if one is licensed for it.
