This tool will show you the old password of the map for you to open the map with a valid password.

Cause

Resolution

  1. On your NTM server download and extract the tools at https://downloads.solarwinds.com/solarwinds/Support/NTMTools.zip
  2. In the directory where the files are extracted run CredentialsManager.exe
  3. Find the relevant NTM map in the Target column and view the associated Username and Password values.
  4. If you need to change the credentials, highlight the row and click Edit.
  5. Make your changes and click Save.
  6. Open the map in NTM.


NOTE: 

The Map password is used to hash the map. So without the password, there is not a way how to open it. Credential Manager can only show what is stored in Windows Credential Manager (Control Panel\User Accounts\Credential Manager)

 

There you can see credentials for all maps you were able to successfully open on the computer. So when you try next time to open the same map, you are not asked again for the password.

 

When you use CredentialsManager to change the map password and try to open the map, you are asked for map credentials again, because the credentials are no more valid. Password was changed in credential manager, but not in the map-the map is hashed with the old one.

 

The only way how to change password secured map is to open the map with valid password and specify new password when exporting.
