Reboot pending for servers with deployed agents when upgrading

Overview

In rare situations after upgrade/fresh install, some of the agents may be flagging Agent Status as 'Reboot pending' or "Reboot Required".

You may receive the message: "Agents are deployed in your environment and they will be upgraded. In rare circumstances, the server where the agent is installed may be flagged as 'reboot pending’."

Cause

Agent tries to detect if target machine requires a reboot for example due to pending Windows Update installation. Pending reboot can cause issues when installing new agent plugins so we inform user about this via Agent Status. Agent plugins are based on .net and some dll updates might require reboot of agent node to complete installation.

Resolution

It is recommended to reboot any server(s) flagged as 'reboot pending' to ensure polling is not interrupted.
