Overview

Following the upgrade to SolarWinds Platform 2025.4, users may notice that Proxmox does not appear as an available virtualization option under the "Add A Virtual Object for Monitoring" section. Other virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix continue to display normally.

Cause

Virtualization monitoring features for Basic polling, VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix are available under the NPM VIM feature or Virtualization Manager (VMAN). However, the Proxmox virtualization option is a new feature that is only available with the Hybrid Cloud Observability (HCO) license model, specifically under the Essential and Advanced tiers.
If your environment is licensed under Basic or other non-HCO license models, the Proxmox option will not be visible in the virtualization wizard.

Resolution

To enable Proxmox virtualization monitoring in SolarWinds Platform 2025.4:
  1. Verify your current license model. Proxmox support requires an HCO license (Essential or Advanced).
  2. If you do not have an HCO license, contact your SolarWinds sales representative or licensing team to upgrade your license accordingly.
  3. Once the appropriate HCO license is applied, restart the SolarWinds Platform services if necessary.
  4. Reopen the Virtualization Wizard; the Proxmox option should now be visible and available for selection.
