Overview
This wait accumulates while SQL Server is waiting for the Operating System to return the procedure address so it can execute an extended stored procedure.
These procedures are deprecated and should not be used for further development. These procedures run in unmanaged memory space and therefore can cause SQL Server to crash if not written correctly.

Preemptive Wait Types
There are many preemptive wait types that SQL Server uses, each prefixed with 'PREEMPTIVE'. All of them basically mean that SQL Server is calling out to Windows to perform an OS function. To perform the task, SQL Server obtains an OS thread that is managed using Windows' preemptive scheduling. The function is performed using the Windows thread while SQL Server waits for the function to complete.
In most cases, the name of the Windows function being called is shown in the suffix of the wait type, and you can simply do a search to learn more about the function.

Indicated Function = GETPROCADDRESS
