Below error occurs when upgrading/running Patch Manager license Application

System.Security.SecurityException: Requested registry access is not allowed.
at System.ThrowHelper.ThrowSecurityException (ExceptionResource resource)
at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.OpenSubKey (String name, Boolean writable)
at SolarWinds.Licensing.Gen4.Utils.RegistryUtil.GetKey (Region region, Boolean writable)
at SolarWinds.Licensing.Gen4.Store.RegistryAncillaryStore.GetKey (AccessMode mode, SubKey key)
at SolarWinds.licensing.Gen4.Store.RegistryAncillaryStore.set_LastContactDetails (UserDetailsData value)
The Zone of the assembly that failed was:
MyComputer

Another symptom with same issue is when you launch PM MMC console, you get the following message.

Error: Requested registry access is not allowed when running below command

setuphelper /provisionserver /type primary.

Cause

The error is caused by insufficient permissions on the account to write to certain sections of the registry. This happens when the User Account Control (UAC) is enabled on the computer.
 

Resolution

1. Run the License manager using the Run as administrator option to install / update License manager tool
2. Launch the MMC console again, the problem should be resolved.
