Overview

For security auditing purposes, it may be required to identify which credentials, if any, are stored locally on a server, and if so, where they are located. This article identifies the Connection String file for storing database credentials.

Resolution

Orion only stores database connection information (including username and password) locally on the server. The connection string, containing this information, is kept in the following file(s):

C:\inetpub\SolarWinds\SWNetPerfMon.db

C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SWNetPerfMon.db

Notes:

These are default locations.
The password is encrypted.
