The following error is displayed when logging in to the Orion Web Console:

Configuration Error

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive.

Environment

NPM versions using .NET Framework 4.0 or later

Cause

The IIS application pool for the SolarWinds website is set to use .NET 2.0 while web.config is configured to use .NET 4.0. by default.

Resolution

In IIS Manager, change the default application pool settings for the SolarWinds website to use .NET 4.0
Restart the application pool and website.
