Overview

The Orion Traps Viewer receives the following traps:
SNMPv2 Authentication Failure

When this issue occurs, the device is configured for SNMPv3 and is added to Orion using Polling Method SNMPv3.

Cause

The Orion Platform is sending a get-next-request SNMPv2c through Wireshark.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the Orion Web Console using an administrator account.

  2. In the URL field, change the URL to:

    http://<IP address>/Orion/Admin/AdvancedConfiguration/Global.aspx

    where <IP_address> is the IP address of your primary Orion server.

  3. In the Advanced Configuration Global of Orion, scroll down and locate TrapService TrapSettings.

  4. Uncheck the EnableGettingValueFromOID checkbox, and click Save.

  5. Log in to your primary Orion server using a local administrator account.

  6. Launch the Orion Service Manager. See Start and stop Orion services.

  7. Restart the SolarWinds Trap Service.
