Resolution
Please note that before any installation, upgrade, or migration we always recommend the following:
- Back up the SolarWinds Platform Databases. Ask your SQL admin to do some database maintenance to speed up the process.
- Make a snapshot of the VM / Back up the server.
- Do not use a domain account. Create a Local Server Administrator account to do the installation with. You can delete it afterwards.
- Right-click the Installer after Unzipping > Properties > Unblock if the option is available
- Right-click the Installer > Run As Administrator
- Reboot if prompted / applicable.
- Read the section regarding the process you will be performing within each product Administrator Guide.
- If you do run into any serious or urgent issues, such as a down scenario, please call us so we can attend to you as quickly as we can take your call. Alternatively, opening a System Down ticket via your customer portal is also a fast track way in this scenario to get our attention.
- If, for some reason, you decide to revert the VM to a previous snapshot please make sure you restore the SolarWinds Platform DB as well in order to avoid version mismatch between the product and the DB.
