Orion Configuration wizard on an additional polling engine fails with an error No valid connection received for a service ServiceId

This article describes an error seen in Core 2018.2 where an additional polling engine fails on the configuration wizard with an error such as: No valid connection information received for a service 'ServiceId: Core.BusinessLayer, ServiceLogicalInstanceId: engine:13, ServiceInstancePropertyFilters: isLocal-True, isStreamed-False'.

Overview

You may find an additional polling engine is failing during the configuration wizard with the following error:

1	No valid connection information received for a service 'ServiceId: Core.BusinessLayer,
2	ServiceLogicalInstanceId: engine:13, ServiceInstancePropertyFilters: isLocal-True,
3	isStreamed-False'.

When adding nodes to the additional polling engine, you may see the following message in the webserver Orionweb.log.

You may also see this error in the Business Layer log file on the additional polling engine:

Cause

  • The additional polling engine is not licensed.
  • Mismatch of products
  • DNS \ Different Domain related Issues
  • Port 17777 is not open.

Resolution

  1. Open the web-based License Manager (Settings > All Settings > License Manager).
  2. Activate the license for the additional polling engine.
  3. Re-run the Configuration Wizard on the affected polling engine.
  4. Check to see if there is any mismatch of products between the polling engines.
  5. Check if the additional polling engine is in another domain and The DNS hostname is not resolvable of each server to the host files.
Note: Make sure that port 17777 is open.
