Overview

As described in Poll for Asset Inventory data for a SAM node, the Asset Inventory dashboard (also called a "sub-view") lets you maintain a current and detailed inventory of your environment's hardware and software. Asset Inventory data collection is automatically enabled during the Network Sonar Discovery and/or the upgrade process.

The Asset Inventory sub-view displays a variety of data for a node, including system, hardware, memory, network interfaces, applications, custom assets, logical volumes, and more. Details displayed depend on the polling method used to collect data from the node.

The Orion Platform uses the following object identifiers (OIDs) to poll for Asset Inventory data via SNMP:

  • DisplayName: 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.6.3.1.2
  • Version: 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.6.3.1.101
  • Publisher: 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.6.3.1.4
  • InstallDate: 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.6.3.1.5

Resolution

If asset inventory does not display as expected, make sure that all nodes support SNMP polling and these four OIDs are available.
