Not collecting Counter data when the some services don't automatically start, in NPM

This article goes over details and steps that have been found to temporarily overcome issues when NPM is not collecting counter data because certain services haven't started.

Overview

Sometimes when a server restarts or after an upgrade or migration some services will not start.
If this occurs and the SolarWinds Agent or the SolarWinds Job Engine v2 are among those services, polling will not occur and data will not be updated in the database.

This is often caused by the server not meeting required specification for multiple module environments.

Resolution

1st Resolution

Make sure that the server has the required, and if possible the recommended CPU cores and RAM especially in a multi-module environment

2nd Resolution - temporary fix

Change all the SolarWinds server to an Automatic Delayed Start (as shown in linked article)

If neither of these help and the issue is still occurring, further troubleshooting may be required. Please gather diagnostics of your Orion Server and contact Technical Support or create a case from the Customer Portal.
