Network Discovery Import fails with "Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Unexpected website error" after upgrading to SolarWinds Platform 2024.2

Overview

If you have legacy licenses for other modules without NPM license after upgrading to SolarWinds Platform 2024.2, Network Discovery wizard fails with the following error message during import instead of showing the preview page:

Unexpected Website Error Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

When saving the error report, the following message may appear:

Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
ErrorSite: OrionWeb.DiscoveryPreviewResultsPollingMethodPlugin.DiscoveredObjectNames

Cause

This issue will impact legacy license customer where Network Performance Monitoring (NPM) is not installed. This should not impact customers who have NAM, HCO or NPM license installed.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, please upgrade to SolarWinds Platform 2024.2.1 and above.

To workaround the issue, apply NPM License.
