Neighbor scans are failing and the following error is found: ERROR SolarWinds.IPAM.ScanningEngine.JobProcessor.JobProcessorBase`1 (null) - NeighborScanJob 'Neighbor|347' has finished with error: Cannot get ARP table from device a.b.c.d. Error: Timeout [31040].

Neighbor scans are failing and the following error is found:

ERROR SolarWinds.IPAM.ScanningEngine.JobProcessor.JobProcessorBase`1 (null) - NeighborScanJob 'Neighbor|347' has finished with error: Cannot get ARP table from device a.b.c.d. Error: Timeout [31040]

Cause

This issue can occur due to any of the following:

  • The device is slow to respond.
  • The SNMP timeout is set too low. In this example, the timeout was set to 10 ms.

Resolution

  1. Go to Settings > All Settings > IPAM Settings > Manage Subnet Scan Settings.
  2. Set the SNMP Timeout value to 2500.
  3. Click Save.
