NTA events for unmanaged device

The following event is showing up for a device that is already managed, but is managed by a different IP and not he Netflow IP: NetFlow Receiver Service [SERVERNAME] is receiving a NetFlow data stream from an unmanaged device (x.x.x.x). The NetFlow data stream from x.x.x.x will be discarded.

Overview

This article provides brief information and a resolution to the issue when the following event appears for a device that is already managed, but by a different IP and the Netflow IP:
NetFlow Receiver Service [SERVERNAME] is receiving a NetFlow data stream from an unmanaged device (x.x.x.x). The NetFlow data stream from x.x.x.x will be discarded.

Resolution

Any of the following can resolve the issue:

 

Enable "Allow Matching nodes by another IP Address" in the NTA Settings page of the web console. -  This is the best solution. Note: There is an issue with NTA 4.2.1 where this option may not resolve the issue.

 

OR

 

Change the Polling IP address in Orion that is managing the device to match the IP address the flow is coming from.

Example:  Netflow Export IP address 10.1.2.3

OR

Change or enter the following command with the interface that contains the IP address NPM is managing the device by:
ip flow-export source interface with IP address 10.1.2.3
