NCM upgrade error: Could not allocate a new page for our database 'DATABASE_NAME'

Overview

This article describes the resolution for the following error, which is displayed when upgrading or migrating to Network Configuration Manager (NCM) version 7.3 or later:

We could not allocate a new page for our database 'DATABASE_NAME' because the filegroup 'FILeGROUP_NAME' lacks sufficient disk space.

Cause

There were changes in the NCM database schema in v7.3.

Resolution

  1. Create additional disk space for the filegroup by adding space to the database storage.
    Note: You may also check with your DBA if the filegroup is set to autogrow.
  2. Restart the migration after adding disk space:
    a. Click Start > Adminsitrative Tools > Services on your NCM host.
    b. Right-click SolarWinds Orion Module Engine, and then click Start.
