Resolution

By design, the Mute Alerts feature of the SolarWinds Platform suspends triggering new alerts for monitored entities. This feature does not clear existing alerts on a node. This is the designed behavior.

SolarWinds recommends that you acknowledge all alerts for an entity before you mute alerts for it.

If there are active alerts on the muted entity when you mute alerts for it, you may still receive notifications:

  • If there is an active alert on the node, it will still be active after you Resume Alerts for the entity.
  • If the alert is triggered before you muted alerts for the entity and the reset action occurs, the reset action will still trigger.
  • If the alert is set to trigger an action repeatedly, the action will keep triggering until you acknowledge the alert or clear the triggered instance of the alert. (See: How to clear an alert from the Orion Web Console)
