Overview
MRC technicians keep getting prompts to upgrade the agent on remote machines that were recently updated during the remote session. The MRC agent was installed using the MSI installer that was created with the Dameware Mini Remote Control Client Agent MSI Builder.
Product section
Cause
There are two Dameware versions installed on the technician’s machine: Dameware Remote Support and Dameware Mini Remote Control. Dameware Mini Remote Control 64-bit is on version 12.3.x and Dameware Remote Support is on version 12.4.x. Dameware Remote Support also includes Dameware Mini Remote Control 32-bit, so there are two Mini Remote Control installations on the technician’s machine with different versions. When launching the Dameware Mini Remote Control Client Agent MSI Builder, it opens the older version, so it creates the Dameware agent installer based on that version, and this is what is deployed to the remote machines.
Resolution
- Ensure that you are using the correct Dameware product based on your subscription.
- If your subscription is for Dameware Remote Support, use that installer on the technician machines; do the same for Dameware Mini Remote Control if that is your subscription.
- If you install the Dameware Remote Support client, there is no need to install the Dameware Mini Remote Control client separately, as Dameware Remote Support also installs Mini Remote Control.
