Move patch manager server to new domain

This article provides information on how to proceed with steps to change domain of a Solarwinds patch manager server.

Overview

Due to company takeover or rename etc you may have to move your server to new domain. This article provides steps to help customers who may run into these scenarios

Cause

Moving to new Domain.

Resolution

Following Assumptions are made for both scenarios
- IP Address and Hostname remains same

Scenario 1: Patch manager Service and Database using default local account and local DB
1. Login to Patch manager server
2. Click computer System properties
3. Under Computer name tab Click Change
4. Provide the new domain name
5. Provide new domain admin credentials when prompted
6. Reboot the computer
7. Launch Patch manager console and verify by clicking on any of the view in Enterprise node

Note: Depending on your setup you may or may not need to modify credentials configured within the Patch manager System Configuration  and Security and user management

Scenario 2: Patch manager Server and DB on separate computers and Patch manager Service is using Managed Service Account
1. Follow the steps 1-6 as in scenario 1 above
2. Then follow the steps in KB to Change the account or password used for the Patch Manager service if needed.
3. Launch Patch manager mmc console to validate the migration to new domain.

Note: Depending on your setup you may or may not need to modify credentials configured within the Patch manager System Configuration  and Security and user management
