Overview

You may experience an issue where platform servers and monitored nodes do not appear in the SolarWinds Diagnostics tab, preventing the collection of diagnostic logs. This problem continues despite attempts to resolve it by using different browsers (including incognito mode), restarting the Administration Service, reinstalling the Administration Service, and repairing the Administration Service.

Cause

The SWIS connection model was adjusted in 2025.4.

The Administration Service was updated to version 2025.4.0 but the SolarWinds Platform was not, which may cause the use of a different communication URL between SWIS and the Administration Service. This change leads to the SWIS Endpoint Exception: "There was no endpoint listening at net.pipe://localhost/SolarWinds/InformationService/v3/Orion/Streamed....."

Resolution

Resolution 1:

Perform an upgrade to SolarWinds Platform 2025.4.

Resolution 2:

  1. Reinstall an older version of the Administration Service.
    1. Identify the Platform Version: Determine the exact version of the SolarWinds Platform currently installed (Control Panel> Programs and Features > Uninstall a Program).

    2.

      Uninstall the problematic SWA:
      * Navigate to Control Panel > Programs and Features on the affected polling engine(s).
      * Find and Uninstall the SolarWinds Administration Service (SWA), specifically the version (e.g., SWA 2025.4) or the problematic SWA.

    3. Re-install the correct SWA Version:
      * Locate the installer for the SWA component that is version-matched to the primary polling engine SolarWinds Platform installation. This is usually found in the C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers directory on the Main Polling Engine. * The file name will resemble SWA-X.X.X.XXXX-AdministrationService.msi.
      * Run the MSI installer for the correct SWA version to re-install the service.

    4. Refresh or revisit the page. The list of servers should now populate correctly.

  1. Uncheck the AllowSwaAutoUpdate option in the Advanced Configuration page of the SolarWinds Platform Web Console.
    1. Access Advanced Configuration Page:
Open your web browser and navigate to the Global Advanced Configuration page: http://<Orion_IP_Address>/Orion/admin/Advancedconfiguration/global.aspx (Replace <Orion_IP_Address> with the IP or hostname of your Main Polling Engine.)
    2. Search for the SWA Setting: On the Global Advanced Configuration page, use the search function (or scroll) to find the setting related to the SWA.

    1. Disable Auto-Update: Locate the setting: AllowSwaAutoUpdate
Uncheck the box next to this setting.
    2. Save and Apply: Click Save. (A service restart may be required for the change to take full effect.)

Note: By disabling AllowSwaAutoUpdate, the SWA component will no longer automatically update to a potentially incompatible version, ensuring its version remains aligned with your core SolarWinds Platform installation.
