2. Check to see if these three highlighted items are installed - Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications Design-Time 3.0, Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications x64 Runtime 3.0, and Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications x86 Runtime 3.0. (See the below screenshot for an example of what SHOULD be installed on the system in order to document 2012 SSIS.)
If missing ANY of these three items, you will need to perform a clean install of SQL Server 2012 (Note: a repair of your installation will NOT suffice due to a known Microsoft issue with the 2012 installer.)
Before proceeding, make sure there is access to a FULL installer for SQL Server 2012 as well as the associated product key - may need to contact the organization’s technical support to make sure this installer and product key are on hand before proceeding.
3. When you have the installer for SQL Server 2012 on the machine generating documentation and the product key, uninstall and reinstall SQL Server 2012 according to either Microsoft instructions or your organization's instructions.
4. On the 'Feature Selection' screen during the reinstall, the below items must be installed at a bare minimum in order to document SSIS 2012.
SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), Integration Services (SSIS), Client Tools SDK and Management Tools - Basic & Complete
5. Lastly, delete the CompositionCache file after the above steps have been completed. (This step should be done with the Pragmatic Workbench closed.)
6. First, use the file explorer to go to this location and find the CompositionCache.xml file to delete it. %APPDATA%\PragmaticWorks\Core If you do not see AppData, go to 'View' and enable 'Hidden.'
7. Once these steps are done, now you will be able to view SSIS 2012 in your source type.
