Microsoft SQL Server Express installation fails

This article describes how to troubleshoot an error code that displays when you install Microsoft SQL Server Express on a SolarWinds Patch Manager server and the installation fails. The error code states: Installation of Microsoft SQL Server Express failed. Invalid exit code - 2067922934.

Overview

When you install Microsoft SQL Server Express, the installation fails and generates the following error message:

Installation of Microsoft SQL Server Express failed. Invalid exit code - 2067922934

Cause

Insufficient administrative rights for installing the SQL Server Express components.

Resolution

Ensure that you are installing the software using a Local Admin account. SolarWinds recommends disabling the antivirus software during the installation procedure.

You may need to add the local Administrators group to Debug programs located at Local Policies > User Rights Assignment.
