Mass update SAM Application Credentials

This article provides steps to mass update a whole series of credentials for SAM application monitors.

Overview

After a credential change in Active Directory, you may need to update your SAM Application Monitors to prevent the account from being locked out, and this is possible to do in bulk using the Credentials Library and Manage Templates pages of the Solarwinds Web Console.

Resolution

 
  1. ​Add the new credential to the SAM Credential Library:
    1. Go to Settings > SAM Settings > Credentials Library.
    2. Click the Add New Credential button.
    3. Add the Credential Name, User Name, and Password.
    4. Click Submit.
  1. Re-assign the templates to the newly created credential:
    1. Go to Settings > All Settings > SAM Settings > Manage Templates.
    2. Select a template and click the Edit button.
    3. Click the topmost checkbox on the list of component monitors to select all component monitors.

  1. Click the Assign Credentials button.
  2. Assign the new credential with the Existing Credential drop-down list.
  3. Click OK.


To Mass update polling credentials for nodes:
 

  1. Go to 'Settings' -> Manage Nodes.
  2. Select all nodes you want to change credentials.
  3. Click "Edit Properties", select "Polling Method".
  4. Change Credential, click Submit.
